If you've experienced or witnessed actual or threatened trauma, it's important to seek help from a qualified therapist. Secondary trauma is not uncommon if someone we love has a trauma experience, or you feel like it easily could have been you. Unexpected things can create trauma, so if anything is creating a pervasive issue such as recurrent nightmares, inability to function, or you feel stuck, our trauma counselors are trained to help you work through varying degrees of injury and challenges that arise because of those experiences. Sometimes, there won't be a diagnosis, but we are also here to simply talk or develop healthy coping strategies. We offer a variety of compassionate therapies to meet the unique needs of the situation.
We all go through moments of unhappiness, negativity, or feeling low. When we can't function anymore, or we are glued to the couch/ bed, or people around us are growing concerned, it might be time to look at what is happening. There are actually different types or intensities of depression (or depression-like symptoms) and it helps to have someone with expertise talk with you about it. Clinical Depression can make it difficult to enjoy life or even take care of responsibilities like paying bills or self-care.
Our therapists are here to help you overcome depression and develop a more positive outlook on life. We offer evidence-based treatments that have been proven to be effective for whatever degree of struggle you or a loved-one are experiencing.
If you're struggling with anxiety, we're here to help. Our providers specialize in anxiety therapies and can help you learn practical coping strategies to manage your symptoms.
Anxiety can be from a variety of sources. We'll work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.
Common treatments can look like EFT*, Somatic Exercises, Mindfulness Activities, Coping Skill Improvement, CBT*, and Talk Therapy.
More intense treatments may involve Brain Spotting, Guided Imagery Exercises, Exposure Therapy, Eco-Therapy, referrals or coordinated care with your medical team.
Where do any of us learn how to be in relationship with others? Naturally, we learn by being immersed in our family systems and communities, but beyond that, there are typically no dependable answers. Rose Stevens uses multiple methods, including the Gottman Method, Non-Violent Communication and wound recovery/ attachment to help families or multiple persons learn to be together in ways that work best for all. A full list of therapies are provided below under Comprehensive Therapies.
Sometimes "couples therapy" can be between friends, siblings, parent-child, open relationships, and even neighbors.
All types of family structures and kinship are welcome. Ethics and processes will be tailored to each family as the situation is presented.
Situations that are better suited for Primary or Secondary Care will be referred out (example: active violence, inappropriate engagement, some severe disorders). Note - Sex Therapy requires specialized care and is referred out.
Please reach out and let's discuss what works for you.
Does "therapy" sound foreign to you? What is everyone talking about it? Why do I pay for mental health services with my insurance? These are all great questions to ask your Provider.
At Rose Stevens, LCSW*, we start where you are at. If you feel like you are at odds with the world, your employer or close relationships, we work with that. If you just need someone to vent to because others don't seem to listen, we are here. Are politics a problem in your household? There's a way to keep your family in tact without having that issue.
Life can be unfair, chaotic, and unpredictable. Not many people grow up learning how to deal with every challenge.
We all matter. Reach out to us by using the email below and let's talk about what we can do together.
All beliefs are respected here.
As human beings, we all reach challenging times or dark places where it is easy to default to "I wish it wasn't....". Some moments are more serious than others. Sometimes we don't seek help because we see ourselves as being more privileged or entitled than others, having "First World Problems", "feeling weak" or "should just get over it", but all issues matter, and all people affect others. Your mental health and well-being help more than yourself.
This Office works with First Responders first, because you help others. Familiar with law enforcement, medical situations, active military, veterans, teachers, emergency personnel, nightmares, addictions, assaults on the job, hopelessness and moral injuries. Are you disconnecting, making mistakes, disassociating? There is help.
Feeling suicidal? You matter! If you are IN ACTIVE CRISIS, STOP. Reach out to someone NOW and don't take the time to email - in America, call 9-8-8. A real person is there to talk to at any time. You can also admit yourself into your emergency room, and in the last case scenario, call 9-1-1. Next, please reach out and let's talk. We are here.

Life changes are a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. Anger is a natural response, but when it becomes something more, it is helpful to reach out for professional help.
We are familiar with various causes for behavior that feels out of control and are able to provide various techniques, stress management services, and work with your medical team as necessary. Most interventions offered are listed below under Comprehensive Services, feel free to reach out for a free consult for your individual situation.
At the Office of Rose Stevens, the whole-client approach is center to the practice. In combination with talk therapy, other services may be appropriate. Alternatives will be discussed in session, referrals offered, or if you are interested, we provide some basic services that have "very good efficacy" in their studies in comparison to other therapies.
EFT* is a form of EMDR*, which involves a series of therapies combined into a "tapping" exercise (listed as 37.5% "very good efficacy" in scientific studies).
Dream and Brain Spotting is born out of EMDR and has 59.09% "very good efficacy", healing the nervous system, and taking little effort on the part of the client.
We are a part of our environments. "Walk & Talk" Therapy is a form of Eco-therapy, which involves multiple strategies to help you heal, including ecosystems, fractals, mindfulness & more.
Sometimes, this looks like a hospital bed visit, coffee in a quiet shop, or walking in public. This therapy is only suited for a few, and requires extra paperwork with the understanding that there may be incidental disclosures. Other Eco-therapies may be offered as well.
Illness, Public Health Guidelines, Pandemics may require the use of masks or PPE*.
The path to achieving life satisfaction may include many bumps or detours, severe difficulty, and even unexpected trauma.
We work with individuals and families going through the court process, ICWA*, those who have survived assault, abuse, domestic (interpersonal) violence, stalking or trafficking. Coordination between Victim-Witness, law enforcement, courts, tribes or government bodies, medical personnel and others may require extra processes, so let's discuss how we might be of assistance.
*Therapy for Sexual Trauma, assault or trafficking is different from intimate Sex Therapy. Sex Therapy is referred out to specialty care.
Trained on the forefront of the Integrated Behavioral Health movement in medical clinics, Rose Stevens is familiar with many medical conditions and works in concert with your medical team in a holistic approach to your well-being. That may be identifying a medical condition previously undiagnosed, referrals, or helping you manage challenges using the eclectic therapies listed below under Comprehensive Services. If you are experiencing pain, let's discuss some options.
Please note - A psychotherapist often meets more often with a patient than a Primary Care Provider, so collaborating as a team is holistic treatment and best practices. No one in this office gives medical, medicine, financial or legal advice. Our team works with your team.
We can struggle with life transitions at any time in our life, from childhood issues to moving to natural disasters, loss, family dynamics, learning disabilities, communication struggles, Disassociation or medical diagnoses and more.
We are here to support you in discovering what works for you and moving toward a more effective life.
Skilled in working with high-functioning challenges (i.e. - autism spectrum, learning disorders).
Note - People needing services around DID* will be referred to a higher level of care.
No insurance? Don't want insurance to know your business? Struggling with time or finances? Therapy can still be for you. Brief Therapy is a quick way to check in with an objective, educated helper and get your needs met, or receive a proper referral for long-term services. Sessions are for a 20-minute-half-hour with a provider. All persons requesting service still need to go through the intake process. Referrals offered for free to sliding scale as available.
A lot has to be covered during the session time, so coming with questions or knowing your need(s) will be helpful.
If this fits your current situation, send us an email using the form provided below. We got you.
Life is naturally an interesting experience of constant transitions and changes. These moments can affect us for the rest of our lives and depending on the developmental stage we are experiencing, it can affect us each differently.
Whether this comes in the form of a pet or loved one leaving us, a job/ home / school change, even a relationship changing, grief can keep us stuck in a cycle of pain, depression, even anger or numbness. Any change or loss can result in activating previously unresolved grief. Anticipatory Grief is also addressed here.
When you are ready, we are here to listen. Dr. Kessler has famously said, "Grief needs to be witnessed", and Rose Stevens is here to sit with you to work through those moments where you need support.
Sometimes talking with a friend, family member or co-worker isn't helpful, or it is too much information to share. In general, everyone struggles with what they are dealing with themselves so they don't always have capacity or ability to be a helper. They may try to fix or even judge. This can feel like we've been abandoned or unheard. This Office is here to deal with all life issues (with few exceptions*) and welcome the conversations.
Talk Therapy is that traditional method of working through issues, but it is not the only one. In this office, an eclectic set of therapies are typically used in a DBT* fashion for all persons coming for service as it has been determined to be the most effective approach. Your information is protected under HIPPA*. Your provider will guide the conversation, so you don't have to do this alone. For questions, please reach out.
Please see a list of therapies used under Comprehensive Services.
Trained on the forefront of the Integrated Behavioral Health movement in medical clinics, Rose Stevens is familiar with most medical conditions and works in concert with your medical team in a holistic approach to your well being. This may look like identifying a medical condition previously undiagnosed, referrals, or helping you manage using any of the eclectic, science-based therapies our providers are trained to use. If you are experiencing pain, let's discuss some options.
We are born into relationship and exist in relationship, even when we feel alone.
Families, Neighbors, Friends, Coworkers - we can find challenges anywhere. Many things create challenging dynamics, including culture, abuse, inequity, assault, violence, neglect, abandonment, poverty, insecurities, and communication differences to name a few, but there are solutions beyond what has happened in the past or what is going on in larger systems.
Rose Stevens uses multiple techniques, especially utilizing Narrative Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and an eclectic approach, as described below under Comprehensive Care.
Challenges, changes (uncomfortable or not), are a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. We believe in a holistic approach to our practices, as human beings are not computers, and not parts. We work with you and your team on a "whole human being" approach.
Our stress management services are designed to help you learn practical strategies to manage stress and improve your overall well-being and come back into balance at the same time that we work on the issues you want to resolve. Not all services are a fit for everyone, but let's discuss what might work for you.
Please read about the eclectic services offered below under Comprehensive Services.
Life Coaching referrals may be available.
This Office is only licensed to practice in California at this time.
The BENEFITS of engaging in therapy are 1) you may heal, grow and change; 2) you may become unburdened of strong or painful emotions and/or memories; 3) you may stop repeating patterns in your life that have harmed you (and others) in the past; 4) you may learn some new things.
Some RISKS of engaging in therapy might be that 1) you grow and change but people around you may not; 2) you may experience strong or painful emotions and/or memories (we try to minimize this). *Any risks that become known to your therapist will be shared with you. You do not have to re-experience suffering to heal.
If you use your INSURANCE COMPANY to pay for services, the standard practice is to have a necessity for services. To meet the requirements, your provider will first discuss with you what that might look like.
As the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT reconstructs systems and requirements, in a rapidly changing environment, this office rises to meet the call of the moment, with first prioritizing the confidentiality and well-being of clients.

It's no coincidence that you have found yourself here now. It is time to be who you want to be.
The world of healing, power struggles and social sciences found Rose Stevens at an early age. Exposed to world beliefs and practices, navigating how dreams and organized religions affect us at different stages of development, Rose Stevens is able to step into Jungian practices, and work with the esoteric, meeting you where you are at, and provide guidance or referrals as needed, using a holistic, humanistic approach.
With deep respect for your spiritual or religious practices, Rose Stevens comes from a lineage of traditional healers and upon request, can step into those roles as needed. Services are offered with unconditional positive regard in a world where mad-vs-bad seems to be the norm.
Inquire if you have questions about what this looks like. Physics, World Religions, Micro-communications and science are used in these practices. Opinions and advice are labeled as such, but providers work from the perspective that you have the answers within you.
You do not have to be from any particular belief system to be welcomed here.
The Office of Rose Stevens, LCSW is guided by the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession (the National Association of Social Workers), including the incorporation of guidelines set by authorities as soon as they are known, in our rapidly changing environment. All unknowns can not be planned for, because they are unknown, so let's talk about how we can tailor our services to your needs within the rules and regulations afforded us in this time and space.

A word from Rose Stevens, LCSW: "Appointments are judgment-free conversations examining how life has unfolded for you and how you would like for it to be different, moving at your pace. While I use a variety of methods to suit the situation, sessions are conversations and you co-create what that looks like. My way may not be your way. Referrals for better-suited services will be offered as the need arises, including the benefits of Life Coaching.

ALTERNATIVES TO SERVICES THIS OFFICE OFFERS: There are many effective therapies in this day and age. What the law or your insurance company will allow may be a different thing. Micro-Dosing utilizing a certified clinic and having a supervising therapist or medical attendees is at the forefront of best services. Brain or Dream Spotting is emerging as one of the most effective therapies. EMDR* is another service that activates your brain for rapid release of trauma and can be very intense. People do not always have to reprocess their trauma in order to heal, they can work on symptoms and go forward from there. There are free AI Therapist Apps available, and this Provider has tested them (as have other entities), but found them to only be reflective, and not able to catch dangerous issues that may arise. They are interesting to work with, often reflecting back the issue you address, but are certainly not confidential (your information is for sale here), and do not adequately replace working with a professional, so please use caution.
Please talk with your Provider for any questions or concerns. This webpage is only a general reference for those exploring options. In the office, referrals will be suggested or made as they become relevant. Life Coaching referrals may also be available.

The proper application of psychotherapy is a weekly session until improvement is seen. Not all situations require the weekly session. Some situations require more than once a week for a short time. At Rose Stevens, we understand the reality of the expense of mental health well-being and families do not always put this necessary care as a priority until something tragic happens.
In order to remain available as a sole proprietor and not work for a corporation or entity, this office has to charge for overhead expenses (rent, security, electricity, cable, billing, filing, copies, and more), technology to protect clients, insurance, on-going education and licensing, and professional expenses. We try to keep the expenses minimal so that the community can receive care, while being able to subsist as well.
Your insurance should cover most of your fees for services, so that your provider can stay in good service to you, or you should consider reaching out for a secondary insurance through www.coveredca.com Some employers offer EAP* services that are covered through this office as well. If you do not have insurance, or do not want to use insurance, please reach out regarding a sliding scale rate, or other options.
